This article examines the emergence of the Great Silk Road, its geographical routes, trade and economic significance, and its role in international cultural exchange from a historical-analytical perspective. The study covers the period from the 2nd century BCE to the 15th century CE and highlights the road's function as a system connecting major centres of Central Asia, particularly within the territory of present-day Uzbekistan. Drawing on archaeological findings, written sources, and contemporary research, the article analyses the significance of the Great Silk Road not only in trade but also in the dissemination of science, religion, and art.
