The study aims to identify the most effective tool for developing lexical skills in philology students. A comparative method was applied to evaluate the functional capabilities of these platforms based on the criteria of definition accuracy, presence of contextual examples, and correctness of idiom translation. The results indicate that professional lexicographical resources significantly outperform Google Translate in conveying semantic nuances and collocations.
